Does Simples submit my declaration for me?
No. Simples prepares the file and the English review guide. You log into Portal das Finanças, review every value, and click the final submit button yourself.
Is Simples a replacement for an accountant?
No. Simples is a filing-preparation tool, not an accountant. For most expats with foreign income, investments, NHR or IFICI, it's everything you need. For cases we don't cover — joint filing, dependents, rental income, self-employment — the free check tells you upfront and connects you to a certified accountant.
How do you handle foreign income?
Foreign income is the core of what we do. We ask you about each source — salary, pension, dividends, interest, capital gains — and prepare the right annex (typically Anexo J) with the right categories. Portuguese salary and other AT-provided values stay as the portal already has them.
Do you support self-employment or recibos verdes?
Not yet. Self-employed income (recibos verdes, simplified regime, business income) is a different return path with its own annexes. The free check flags it and connects you with a qualified accountant who specialises in freelancer filings.
How does Simples handle my Portuguese salary?
It doesn't ask you to retype it. Portuguese salary, withholding, Social Security and most rent-deduction values come from the tax authority's pre-filled declaration. Simples focuses on the parts that aren't already there — foreign income, NHR/IFICI, foreign accounts.
Does Simples handle NHR or IFICI?
Yes — both regimes, including the foreign-income tax method choices that come with them. Regime-specific values and high-value-activity classifications are flagged for your review in the portal.
Do you store my tax-portal password?
No. We never ask for it. You log into Portal das Finanças yourself, in your own browser, and stay there for review and submission.
What if my situation isn't covered?
The free check tells you so before payment. If we don't cover your case, we either put you on a profile-specific waitlist or connect you with a qualified accountant who handles your case type.
